Back in Wisco, take two

Drew, James and I have travelled back to Wisco for a little Fourth of
July family vacation. Drew can only stay for two weeks and then has
to fly back to NY to work, but he has a class scheduled at Fort McCoy
for the last two weeks in July. So, James and I will be staying in
Wisco with the grandparents and we get to make it to Scott and
Melissa’s wedding! Then we have to go back to NY til the end of the
year.
It looks like we will be moving to Missouri in January for Drew to
take the Captain’s Career Course. It is a nine month program and he
will get a masters degree out of it, so I guess I can stand that long
in Missouri. Sigh. The closest Best Buy is like 45 minutes away from
the base. I just hope they have internet and cell phone coverage.

So, by the time I post this, both of my sisters will now be doctors. Well, PhDs at least, if not medical in nature. Everyone already knows that Michelle, my sister, has a doctorate in English; but Megan, my sister-in-law, is graduating today with a doctorate in…. Animal Behavioral Studies or something like that. (Sorry, Meg!) If you want to find out more about the great work that she has done and what she really studies, she was interviewed for NPR (that’s National Public Radio, for all you heathens out there). Check it out at http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=104867520 . She sounds sooo professional. Way to go Megan!!!
Back from Wisco

Sorry about that. Our four week vacation turned into six weeks as Drew was needed out in California for a project, and I didn’t want to drive back to NY by myself with only James as company. We are now back in NY. I have to go down to Norfolk this weekend for drill, which I was actually looking forward to until our plans changed again. Drew was made Company Commander of the 306th Eng Company from Amityville, NY while he was out in CA. Unfortunately, they have a different drill schedule and so they drill this weekend as well. No worries, James is going to spend Saturday with JJ (a two year old) and his parents (friends of ours). Then the boys will have a day out as Drew is taking Sunday off to go to the local fair with James.
James is now back in school (aka in-home daycare) in NY. The group has four boys between the ages of 2 and 4 years old. He seems very happy as they have lots of Thomas train engines and track. I dropped him off today and he was fine, didn’t even cry or anything, just started playing. Which makes me feel soo much better, knowing that he is happy while I am away again. After this weekend, I don’t have to drill until October, which will give me time to figure out what I am going to do. With James being over 2 now, I am kind of looking to go back to work. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
Headed to Wisco

Drew and I are headed out to Wisconsin to pick up James and visit with
friends and family. I can’t wait to see James, and everyone else as
well. Drew has to go to California for a week, so I am going to stay
in Wisco with James while Drew is gone. James, mom and I are going up
to visit Michelle for awhile as she is getting “BIG” and it is easier
for us to visit her than for her to come down. Then we are headed
back to NY. It will be nice to have the whole family together again.
We had dinner out here with some friends, one of which have a two year
old son who is just amazing to me. He understands everything that
everyone says even if he has a limited vocabulary. Plus he is very
forceful about what he wants. He totally gets me when he pulls a
tantrum and crys, but his parents tell me just to ignore it as he is
just testing them. I can only hope that I can deal with james as
well. I am afraid he might be a little tyrant cause I will be to soft
and let him have everything. Oh well, I am sure Drew will keep us
both in line.
New projector for TV

So, Drew and I have been talking about getting a projector for our living room TV for years now. Ever since we saw Dan Dargel’s setup for Anime back in college, man was that sweet! It an effort to keep up with our parents (yeah how crazy is that), both sets of which now have HD flat panel wide screen TVs, we are actually going to get a projector to replace Drew’s TV from 1996. So far we both like the Panasonic PT-AX200U 720p 3LCD Home Theater Projector, but we aren’t going to buy it until after we get back from Wisco. At the moment the best deal is going to be to get it from Amazon, yes they really do sell everything now. Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions on projectors, in general or specific, or even buying large electronics from Amazon. Let me know. Thanks.
